Summer is the perfect time to ditch that staid exercise routine. Say sayonara to the dreaded treadmill and check out these fun ways to stay swimsuit ready. From calorie-torching group fitness classes to yoga with goats, we've got 9 trendy ways to get (or stay) in killer summer shape.

1. Goat & Horse Yoga

Are you an animal-loving yoga enthusiast? Then you may want to check out goat yoga! This workout lends new meaning to the pose downward dog. Are horses your thing? Equine Yoga lets you get your workout and your pony fix at the same time.

2. Stand Up Paddle Boarding (SUP)

If surfing and kayaking had a baby, the result would be stand up paddle boarding (SUP). SUP gives you a strong core workout, builds cardiac endurance, and boosts balance. Best of all, SUP workouts can be done on any calm, flat body of water, so there's no need to buy a plane ticket to get your water workout. To learn more about SUP, check out REI's Stand Up Paddleboarding Basics.

3. High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)

HIIT smokes calories while building overall endurance by alternating spurts of high-intensity movies with refractory rest periods. This is a program you can create for yourself, at home. For example, alternate one minute of squats with 30 seconds of rest, followed by one minute of burpees. For guided HIIT workouts, check out 30 Days of HIIT.

4. Xtend Barre

Barre workouts are hot right now, and this workout capitalizes on that trend. Xtend Barre incorporates classical ballet, Pilates, and modern dance for a fun, energizing workout that promotes strong, flexible muscles. New moms should check out Xtend Babies on Board classes. 7. SoulCycle

SoulCycle cranks out heart-racing playlists to keep those pedals moving at lightening speed. SoulCycle's unique mix of hand weights, intense cycling, and rock concert music is a favorite with celebs looking to feel the burn. Check out SoulCycle for more info.
