6 Things You Need at Your Next Tailgate

For many devoted football fans, tailgating is a way of life in the fall -- and having the right gear makes every game day more fun (and less stressful). Outfit your collection with these six essentials for a party that's perfect even if your team loses.

1. iGrill

Even the most devoted drillmaster can get distracted from his cooking duties during a tailgate--which is where the iGrill comes in handy for saving your meat (literally). This Bluetooth-enabled grill probe works with a free downloadable app: Put the probe into the meat while it cooks, log the food and desired temperature in the app, and wait for an alert that tells you the meal is ready. (iGrill, $40-$100)

2. Coolest cooler

The Coolest cooler, which started as a Kickstarter campaign and shipped its first batch of orders this summer, keeps your drinks cold -- but that's only part of the appeal. It also includes a built-in blender, waterproof USB charger, Bluetooth speaker, bottle opener, corkscrew, and even plates. All you need to add are your favorite beers or mixers -- and a few friends -- for a memorable tailgate. (Coolest cooler, $485)

3. Go plates

The Go Plate may just be one of the most ingenious advances in tailgating history. This divided plastic plate fits over a bottle, can, or cup, resting on the neck of your drink so you can keep your other hand free for eating, checking your phone, or winning at your favorite tailgate game. (Go Plate, $10)

4. VIno2Go tumblers

Keep the wine drinkers in your crowd happy with the Vino2Go wine tumblers. The double walled insulation keeps drinks colder longer, and the sturdy plastic shape is easier to hold at a crowded party than a tradtional wineglass; the slide-top lid minimizes the threat of spills, meaning you won't waste a drop of your favorite red, white, or rose. (Vino2Go numbers, $12)

5. Coleman roadtrip LX grill

The Coleman Roadtrip LX propane grill is an adaptable way to cook all your favorite tailgate foods on the go: The included grill and griddle are interchangable with other grills, griddles, and stovetop plates, so you can easily cook everything from burgers to bacon to beans. Use it on a table or on the included stand, and take advantage of the side tables for holding ingredients, tools, and more must-haves. (Coleman Roadtrip LX, $229)

6. Folding wooden picnic table

Folding camp chairs are tailgating essentials, but to give your guests a little more space to sit and eat, add a wooden picnic table to your party. When folded, the table and seats are just 33"x14"x4.5", so it won't take up all the spare room in your trunk, and the set unfolds without any tools. (Folding wooden picnic table, $145)
