Eye makeup is probably the most versatile of all the makeup in our beauty arsenal. So if you’re just swiping one color across your lids in the morning, you’re really missing out on a lot of makeup fun. And don’t worry, you don’t have to be a makeup pro to give yourself perfect lashes, a quick smoky eye, or even a dramatic winged-out look. You just need a few of our favorite eye makeup hacks. Follow these to step up your beauty game.

    Invest in White Eyeliner

Make your eyeshadow really pop on your lids by applying a white eyeliner all over your lids first. When you add other pigments, they will appear more colorful and will standout more.

Use a Hashtag for a Smoky Eye

Want to give yourself a smoky eye but not exactly sure how? All you need to do is draw a slanted hashtag at the outer corner of your eye. Then blend the hashtag with a smudger for an instant smoky effect. So easy!

    Use Powder for Thicker Eyelashes

If you want your eyelashes to look and appear longer and fuller, a light dusting of translucent or baby powder can help. Use a clean mascara wand or makeup brush to dust your eyelashes with the powder before applying mascara (Try applying it between coats, too!). Be careful not to use too much!

    Make Your Eyes Look Bigger

Elongate the look of your eyelids by pulling the eye shadow outwards at the corners. This will make your eyes look less round and more almond shaped.

The Secret to Perfect Winged Liner

Are you trying to perfect the winged-out look? Try using a piece of tape as a guide. Place the tape along the side of your eye so that it creates a line between the outer corner of your eye and the tip of your eyebrow. Use your eyeliner and shadows to create a dramatic eye then remove the tape.

    No Gel Liner? No Problem.

Turn your pencil eyeliner into gel eyeliner by heating it up with a match or lighter. Head the tip of the pencil for one to three seconds and let it cool for at least 15 seconds. When you apply the liner, it will go on like a gel liner. This works great for dark colors like black and brown.
