Do you love the idea of communing with the great outdoors, but can't quite bring yourself to go without the comforts of daily life? Glamping -- a.k.a. camping with a touch of glamor -- might be the answer for you. Behold, five great reasons to consider glamping for your next vacation.

1. You can sleep in a real, actual bed. From full-fledged cabins to yurts (which are essentially fancy tents with beds inside), a key component of glamping is the ability to forgo the sleeping-bag-on-the-dirty-ground experience.

2. You can eat food that isn't a campfire-cooked, burnt-to-a-crisp hot dog. Many "eco resorts" offer glamping packages that come complete with food that requires no assembly on the part of the guest.

3. But you can still enjoy a campfire if that's on your wish list. There's no hard-and-fast rule about how little or how much of modern amenities you need to give up for glamping. The only rule with is you should have a good time.

4. Electricity. Modern plumbing. Toilets. All of these things are often the best part about what separates "camping" from "glamping."

5. True glamor -- nail polish included. Some traditional vacation locales are starting to offer a glamping-inspired experience. For example, Great Wolf Lodge is rolling out a full-on glamping package later this year, but their traditional offerings include a salon for kids to get dolled up during their outdoors-comes-indoors getaway.

And if you're not ready to go full-glamp, turns out to go glamping, you don't even need to leave home. We love this inspiration for a perennial kid favorite: the living room fort gone glam.
