June is upon us and not only does that mean the start of summer is here, it means Pride Month is here. So this month we are spreading the love and acceptance more than ever because love is love is love is love.

The reason Pride Month takes place in June is to commemorate the Stonewall Riots of 1969, which took place at the Stonewall Inn, a gay bar in New York City's Greenwich Village - a place former President Obama marked as a National Monument June of 2016, about a year after the Supreme Court declared gay marriage legal in all 50 states.

The Stonewall Riots are often seen as the start of the LGBTQ movement for civil rights in the US. The riots inspired people to organize and come together, to make safe places for themselves to be themselves. Equality for all is something we must strive to fight for each and every day, acceptance, love, compassion are the things that propel us through life and it's important to love one another.
